Welcome to “Families Are Forever”, the Matetu link to your family history. In the spirit of our family reunions, this web site has been created to help us organize and preserve our family history. Some of the information contained here was given to me and I cannot say how accurate it is. Included in this site is our family tree and photo album. It has been an interesting and challenging journey; a labour of love; and has not been completed yet.

This site, begun on September 18th 2014, was created to allow for a common place where our relatives could re-live memories and share information about our families. It was also created so that our descendants could have a greater insight into their ancestry. Other members of the family have helped me along the way and I am truly grateful. With the help of other family members I will keep adding names and pictures. Anyone who can use this information is welcome to do so. Mistakes and omissions are unintentional. Feel free to look around and view the site and anything you see that is incorrect we will gladly change. There is information at the bottom of this page in the "Getting Around" section that will help you navigate the site. You may be surprised at what you might find. Please help me to get all the information we can on this large family. Don't let the past slip away and our grandchildren and great-grandchildren have no information on their family. I only wish I had got more information from my grandparents before they slipped away from us. I WOULD DEARLY APPRECIATE IF YOU COULD HELP ME MAKE THE INFORMATION HERE AS ACCURATE AS WE CAN GET IT. Thank you for your help.
I NEED ALL THE HELP I CAN GET ! ! ! When you’re ready to share your information just send me an e-mail with your family information. Please include the following: First Name, Middle Name, Last Name (include maiden if Female) Date and Place of Birth Date and Place of Death (if applicable) Spouse’s Name (if applicable and include maiden if Female) Marriage Date and Place (if applicable) Parents Names (include maiden if Female) There is lots of room available for your Family Photos The MATETU FAMILY TREE site will hopefully develop into a place where we can share more of our family photos, recipes, stories, favourite links, news and memories. It will be an information site that you will want to check often. So that’s it in a nutshell. It is my hope that everyone will participate so that we all may benefit. Also, take a moment to sign the 'Guest Book'. "THERE'S NOTHING MORE IMPORTANT THAN FAMILY"
NEW ZEALAND NATIONAL FILM UNIT presents ATOLL PEOPLE. http://www.youtube.com/watch? v=Fk1oGFIR_3Q This is a very human and moving story, probing the dilemma of the Tokelau Islanders - New Zealand citizens who make a bare living on their tiny coral islands. Should they stay there? Should they make a new life in New Zealand's urban society? Atoll People is concerned with people - as the net of today's world gathers them in.
~ FAMILY CIRCLE ~ In the circle of a family, There are so many parts; But each one is more precious, When they're joined heart to heart. The father to the mother, And so the circle begins; Generation to generation, In a circle with no end. There within the family, Between the husband and wife; The circle grows much sweeter, As each child is given life. Then as those years so quickly pass, Those children are soon grown; And they become fathers and mothers, With little children of their own. Touched with love and sacrifice, The circle of family begins; Generation to generation, In a circle with no end.

Getting Around
There are several ways to browse the family tree. The Tree View graphically shows the relationship of selected person to their kin. The Family View shows the person you have selected in the center, with his/her photo on the left and notes on the right. Above are the father and mother and below are the children. The Ancestor Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph above and children below. On the right are the parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. The Descendant Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph and parents below. On the right are the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Do you know who your second cousins are? Try the Kinship Relationships Tool. Your site can generate various Reports for each name in your family tree. You can select a name from the list on the top-right menu bar.

In addition to the charts and reports you have Photo Albums, the Events list and the Relationships tool. Family photographs are organized in the Photo Index. Each Album's photographs are accompanied by a caption. To enlarge a photograph just click on it. Keep up with the family birthdays and anniversaries in the Events list. Birthdays and Anniversaries of living persons are listed by month. Want to know how you are related to anybody ? Check out the Relationships tool.
